Purchasing High Index Lenses is absolutely a personal preference.

When to buy high index lenses and when not to

I personally have a -8.50 prescription in both eyes and I really like the 1.70 High Index Lenses for my lenses because it is reasonable in price and when the lenses are in my frame they are thin looking.  Now if I were to get NON-High Index Lenses it would look like I had bug eyes.  I recommend High Index Lenses for people like me…however some people with a prescription as low as -4.00 like High Index Lenses.  It is solely a personal preference.  High Index lenses are thin and light especially if your prescription is high.  We also offer High Index Lenses in glass as well!
